释延宇把禅武文化洒向世界的武僧
释延宇,俗名刘勇,1974年6月生,安徽省太和县人。嵩山少林寺第34代弟子,师承少林寺方丈释永信,曾任少林寺武僧团团长、少林武僧总教头。杭州曼达精舍文化传播中心创始人。多年来,带领武僧团出访世界各地巡演及文化交流访问等,积极推动中华禅武传统文化的国际化发展。
释延宇自幼受少林文化的熏陶,在师父释永信、一代宗师梁以全等多位名师的指导下,很快成为了一名禅武双修的优秀武僧。其后并将少林文化的禅武精神融入其中,肩负起国际传播的重任走向世界。
释延宇表示,“少林文化不仅仅是武术,更是一种心灵修炼的方式。”他希望通过自己的努力,让少林文化的禅武精神成为连接世界的桥梁。从2002年起,释延宇随师父带领少林武僧团队先后出访了美国、加拿大、英国、日本等几十个国家及地区,进行武术表演,文化交流传播和学术研讨活动。2006年4月首届世界佛教论坛,延宇担任晚会的武术板块总导演及演出。2007年至2008年期间,延宇率少林武僧团出国参加“迎2008北京奥运会”宣传推广演出,同时参加北京奥运会举办期间的文艺汇演活动,担任武术板块总导演。2009年3月在台湾举办的第二届国际佛教论坛期间担任晚会的总导演及演出。这些活动不仅提升了少林文化的国际知名度,也促进了全球对中国传统文化的理解与认同。
释延宇不仅局限于武术表演,还积极推动少林武术的系统性传播。在浙江、上海、山东等地,为警务人员教授武术技艺,同时举办禅武结合的研讨会,向更多人普及少林文化的内涵。还注重文化的传承和教育,他在香港、杭州等地创建了多个文化传播中心,通过教学和互动活动,让更多青少年了解并热爱少林文化。他表示,“文化的传承需要年轻人的参与,只有让他们感受到文化的魅力,才能让传统文化焕发新的生命力。”
2014年至今,释延宇仍一直担任海内外弘扬传播少林文化的工作,期间创建了杭州曼达精舍文化传播中心。2020年被评为中国最有影响力的少林禅武大师,同时被美国、法国、英国、加拿大等多个机构单位聘请为顾问与导师。愿与各界携手共进,把少林禅武精神洒向世界的四面八方。

Shi Yanyu: A Shaolin Monk Spreading Zen and Martial Arts Culture to the World
Shi Yanyu, whose secular name is Liu Yong, was born in June 1974 in Taihe County, Anhui Province. He is the 34th-generation disciple of the Songshan Shaolin Temple, apprenticed to Shi Yongxin, the abbot of the Shaolin Temple. He once served as the head of the Shaolin Monk Corps and the chief instructor of Shaolin monks. He is also the founder of the Hangzhou Manda Hermitage Cultural Communication Center. Over the years, he has led the Shaolin Monk Corps to visit various countries around the world for tour performances, cultural exchange visits and so on, actively promoting the international development of the traditional Chinese Zen and martial arts culture.
Shi Yanyu has been influenced by Shaolin culture since childhood. Under the guidance of many famous masters including his master Shi Yongxin and the grandmaster Liang Yiquan, he soon became an outstanding monk who cultivated both Zen and martial arts. Later, he integrated the Zen and martial spirit of Shaolin culture into his work and shouldered the important task of international dissemination and went global.
Shi Yanyu said, "Shaolin culture is not just martial arts, but also a way of spiritual cultivation." He hopes that through his own efforts, the Zen and martial spirit of Shaolin culture can become a bridge connecting the world. Since 2002, Shi Yanyu has accompanied his master to lead the Shaolin Monk team to visit dozens of countries and regions such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan, to perform martial arts, conduct cultural exchange and dissemination, and hold academic seminars. In April 2006, during the First World Buddhist Forum, Shi Yanyu served as the chief director of the martial arts section of the evening party and also participated in the performance. From 2007 to 2008, Shi Yanyu led the Shaolin Monk Corps to go abroad to participate in the promotional performances for "Welcoming the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games". Meanwhile, he also participated in the art performance activities during the holding of the Beijing Olympic Games and served as the chief director of the martial arts section. In March 2009, during the Second International Buddhist Forum held in Taiwan, he served as the chief director of the evening party and also participated in the performance. These activities have not only enhanced the international popularity of Shaolin culture but also promoted the global understanding and recognition of traditional Chinese culture.
Shi Yanyu is not only limited to martial arts performances but also actively promotes the systematic dissemination of Shaolin martial arts. In Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong and other places, he has taught martial arts skills to police officers and held seminars combining Zen and martial arts to popularize the connotations of Shaolin culture to more people. He also attaches great importance to cultural inheritance and education. He has established several cultural communication centers in Hong Kong, Hangzhou and other places. Through teaching and interactive activities, he enables more teenagers to understand and love Shaolin culture. He said, "The inheritance of culture requires the participation of young people. Only by letting them feel the charm of culture can traditional culture be rejuvenated."
Since 2014, Shi Yanyu has been still engaged in the work of promoting and spreading Shaolin culture at home and abroad. During this period, he established the Hangzhou Manda Hermitage Cultural Communication Center. In 2020, he was rated as the most influential Shaolin Zen and martial arts master in China. Meanwhile, he was hired as a consultant and tutor by many institutions in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Canada and other countries. He is willing to work hand in hand with all sectors to spread the Shaolin Zen and martial spirit to all corners of the world.
